In May 2010, Tibor Putnoki was invited to Stroud in Gloucestershire to give a talk about his remarkable near-death experience. He described how he had been accompanied to the heavenly realm by a spirit guide who showed him unimaginable wonders that lie beyond death. The spiritual quest is quite a theme to tackle, but Wyn Rainbow, in this his second book, goes about it with a light touch. The teaching stories from different mystical traditions are fluently told, for Wyn has a natural story-telling ability. His 'How not to .....' stories take a breathtakingly honest look at moments from his own life. With tongue firmly in cheek, he invites us to laugh with him at the kind of situations many of us have at some point found ourselves in and, unlike Wyn, probably prefer not to remember. His frankness is at once disarming and courageous. These are teaching stories with a difference, with a colourful thread of 60s/70s psychedelia intertwined.

The intriguing illustrations interwoven throughout the text demonstrate his passion for integrated design and presentation. This is original and interesting work. If Wyn’s intention is exploration into the mysteries of life, then clearly this slim volume is only a beginning. We should watch this space with anticipation.
